FILM SPRING OPEN AIR 2015

PRZEGORZAŁY GUESTHOUSE OF THE JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY
Przegorzały lies 5 km away from the centre of Krakow, 7 km awayfrom the Balice airport and 3 km away from A-4 motorway. From the centre of Krakow the Prince Józef Street (Ul. Księcia Józefa) leads to Przegorzały starting from the Norbertine monastery (Klasztor norbertanek) at Salwador. City buses stop at the foot of the hill where the university complex is located, The Przegorzały Guesthouse, which is our location.
Buses from the city centre stop about 600 meters away from our campus; from there you have to go uphill. Taxis from the city centre cost about 30 – 35 PLN. Straight forward you can go to the railway station about 8 km and to the airport about 6 km. The cost of taxis from Przegorzały to the airport is roughly the same as to the city centre. There is also a city bus going to the airport. The bus from the train station takes about half an hour, a taxi about 20 minutes. The nearest petrol stations are at Salvator or near the airport. The A4 motorway runs about 3 km from the campus but the nearest exit is near the airport. The nearest petrol stations are close to the airport or at Salwator. A4 motorway runs about 3 miles away from campus, but the nearest exit is near the airport.
Restaurants and shops
Next to the campus there is a restaurant “U Ziyda”, restaurant near the Zoo and restaurant “Srebrna Góra” (The Silver Mountain) named from the hill on which the monastery stands, near the XIXthcentury waterworks, near Fort Krępak. At the foot of the hill, near the city bus stop there is a grocery store. Other shops are located close to the WolaJustowska, near the Villa Decius, about 1.5 km away – grocery, bakery etc. In the neighbourhood there are no supermarkets, blocks or industrial facilities.
Przegorzały Guesthouse was built in the style of an American university campus from the 60’s. It is a former summer residence of a popular, interwar, Krakowian architect Adolf Szyszko-Bochusz, in the French style of the castles of Loire. Next to the tower, the Germans built a sanatorium for the Luftwaffe army, this is said to be the best Nazi architecture in the east of the Odra River. Currently, next to the restaurant, the European Institute of Jagiellonian University is located. In the foyer there is also a stone fountain in the shape of a swastika, and in the basement you can discover the old air-raid shelter.

By pointing towards the most interesting film locations in the Malopolska Region, the purpose of the app is to not only attract more visitors, but also and specifically film productions. The app also contains information about the film industry in the region and can also serve as a virtual guidebook. Its main target is filmmakers who are looking for film locations (producers, directors, set designers, location managers) as well as potential tourists who are planning to visit the Malopolska Region. The stills and panoramic pictures that are used in the application suggest potential locations and are taken from a location database available at http://www.film-commission.pl The app has been designed for the Malopolska Film Region Project and has been co-financed by the European Union as a part of The Regional Operational Program 2007-2013 ERDF.
