Film Spring Open-Air is an interdisciplinary educational programme for young artists from the audio-visual sector, which was established in 2005 thanks to the initiative of Prof. Slawomir Idziak.
Film Spring Open-Air is a unique meeting point for film and new media professionals, debutants, graduates and students, who can develop their artistic and technical skills in a spirit of cooperation and shared passion for cinema. Our participants have an opportunity to develop their artistic and technical skills, gain knowledge and make their films using the best film equipment available on the market. Film Spring Open-Air’s exceptional educational formula comes from learning through filmmaking and from truly professional work conditions as well as a modern approach to film production and venturing into the future in the audio-visual sector.
Our programme enables the participants to work on their own projects with the support of outstanding professionals in the artistic group of their choice or learning independently from the artistic groups. We provide lectures by award-winning top professionals, workshops, tests of the state-of-the-art equipment and software, meetings with well-known artists, showings and discussions on films made by our guests and presentations of the participants’ projects made during the workshop.
For the duration of the Film Spring Open we create in Krakow a professional technical infrastructure – the world-class centre of audio-visual education. Our participants have at their disposal a film equipment warehouse, a lighting warehouse, technical advice centre, professional gaffers, editing room with several high-tech workstations and regular editing and programming supervision, two screening rooms for 2D as well as 3D projections. (Last year we offered equipment worth over a 1, 5 million Euro)
Our lecturers and artistic group coordinators are the most outstanding specialists in their field. Among those who have shared their knowledge and skills with our participants are: Oscar winner Natalie Portman, Oscar winner for special effects in the film Gravity Neil Corbould, Oscar winner Mia Bays, Oscar winner Zbigniew Rybczyński, Oscar winner Allan Straski, Oscar winner Ewa Puszczyńska, Hasraf Dullul (Haz), Detlev Buck, Lech Majewski, Krzysztof Krauze, Joanna Kos-Krauze, Dorota Kędzierzawska, Arthur Reinhart, Bodo Kox, Jan Komasa, Anna Maliszewska, Tomasz Bagiński, Maciej Pieprzyca and many others.
